Blueware Lampshades

Blueware lampshades are ceramic pendant lampshades with photograms of foraged weeds from our herbarium. We harvest and press the weeds at our studio before using them to create our designs. The flora are captured onto the surface of the lampshades using the cyanotype photographic technique.

Working in our darkroom, we make the lampshades sensitive to light and then attach a weed to it. By exposing the surface to light we capture a shadow image of weed against vivid blue.
